World Tolerance Summit draws strong support from Dubai Municipality, Dubai Land Department and Dubai Courts
World Tolerance Summit will be held on November 15-16, 2018 and will host the biggest gathering of 1000 government leaders, key personalities from the private and public sectors, youth representatives, social leaders, social influencers, and the international diplomatic community.
1 August 2018, Dubai, UAE - The International Institute for Tolerance, part of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, has announced the sponsorship support of the Dubai Municipality, Dubai Land Department and Dubai Courts for the World Tolerance Summit – a two-day mega conference – to be held at the Armani Hotel, Dubai, from November 15 to 16, 2018, to coincide with the International Day of Tolerance on November 16.
With its theme, “Prospering From Pluralism: Embracing Diversity Through Innovation and Collaboration”, WTS will host the biggest gathering of 1000 government leaders, key personalities from the private and public sectors, youth representatives, social leaders, social influencers, and the international diplomatic community in a platform that seeks innovative solutions and to forge fruitful partnership that will help promote respect for diversity and productive pluralism.
WTS has been gaining support from various government ministries and departments in light of their mandate to follow the values on tolerance of UAE’s founding father, the late His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
Dubai Courts has been actively promoting tolerance for the past 3 years through Tolerance and Settlements Centre’s (DCTC) halls of settlements and tolerance, a venue where disputing parties can meet to discuss their concerns and settle their disputes to avoid litigation. Halls of settlements and tolerance has aided the public in settling 42,623 cases- 12,230 family reconciliation cases, 1,530 inheritance settlements, 14,820 employment settlements, 7,908 implementation settlements, and 6,135 civil settlements.
DCTC, which has been launched by His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE Minister for Tolerance and under the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, is based on UAE National Tolerance Programme which ensures fairness in Dubai Courts. It also aims to promote tolerance among the entire community to make Dubai one of the best cities in the world with respect to justice, independence, transparency, and by providing accessible judicial services. On its launch, the Dubai ruler said that, “Tolerance and the UAE are two sides of one coin, and is a key value of its people, and a cornerstone of the country’s future development.”
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Municipality Chairman, has for several decades been active in spreading the message of tolerance. Several years ago DM Chairman has established the award for cultural diversity in Scotland which aims to promote multiculturalism by recognizing the contributions of individuals and organizations, and by advocating civilizational dialogue to foster a culture of tolerance and peaceful co-existence.
Dubai Land Department, through its Director General His Excellency Sultan Butti bin Mejren, has incorporated charitable and humanitarian aspects in its operations. DLD’s Rental Dispute Center has been created to look into cases, such as families’ situation and identify their circumstances, for endorsement to qualify for support from DLD’s fund to cover rental obligations under dispute.
