Anand Kumar (born on 1st
January 1973 in Patna, Bihar India) is noted mathematics teacher. But more than being a teacher, he is also a man behind a silence social transition that he is ushering in through his revolutionary education initiative “Super 30”. In 1994, Anand got an opportunity to pursue higher education in Cambridge University, but his poor financial health came in the way. His father, who was low paid employee in the postal department, suddenly died, cutting off the family's main source of income. Having witnessed extreme financial hardship since childhood, he felt the pangs of poverty so much that he decided to do something for the poor students, who invariably fade away without getting right opportunities. And it became the reason to start the programme Super 30.
In the 18 years of Super 30, a phenomenal 440 out of 510 students have made to the joint entrance test of top technical institutes of India Indian Institute of technology. What is remarkable about this achievement is that the successful candidates have been from most underprivileged sections of the society. Many of them first generation learners from rural extremely poor background with indifferent school education. They get free food, lodging and above all free coaching. Anand Kumar supports the entire exercise all by himself though he got a number of offers from private sector as well as the government for financial support to his movement. He earmarks a portion of his earning through private tuition for the noble cause, in which entire family is behind him.
Many channels, leading newspapers and magazines from around the globe have tried to capture the essence of Super 30. Discovery Channel, which made an hour-long documentary on Anand and Super 30, described it as a “revolutionary experiment to bring about social change”, while Yoichi Itoh, chief economist of STB Research Institute, Japan, which also made a film on Super 30 for the famous channel NHK, dubbed it as a “secret weapon of India”. to make a documentary on Anand’s initiatives. Several films made on Super 30 won international awards. Anand Kumar has also honoured by various leading organizations of the county for his silence movement Super 30. French 24 also made a short decomentry film on the Anand’s life. He had his name included in the Limca Book of World Records

Many people from Bollywood including renowned directors and producers are interested in making a movie on the life of Anand Kumar. China TV invited him as a special guest in Beijing for a very popular show. China International Radio, BBC and German Radio also broadcasted some programmes on Super 30. Anand Kumar has been. He was also honoured by government of British Columbia, Canada. Recently, Kumar was conferred with the prestigious Ramanujan Mathematics Award at the Eighth National Mathematics Convention at function in Rajkot. He was conferred with an Honorary Doctorate of Science (DSc) by Karpagam University, Coimbatore. He was also awarded Maharishi Ved Vyas by Madhya Pradesh Government for extraordinary contribution in education. Anand Kumar was honored by ministry of education of Saxony of Germany.

is a story of Kumar’s struggle and achievement, and how one person can make a difference in the lives of disadvantaged students.
A biography on Anand Kumar has also been written in English, Hindi and other Indian languages and published by Penguin Books and it was among the best sellers. Anand presented a copy of the biography to the then President Pranab Mukherjee. The present Indian President awarded him the "Rashtriya Bal Kalyan Award" in 2017.
